‘I Am The First & The Last’

An immersion into an on-going odyssey of revelatory rituals of transformation and attempted self healing.

This performance is about survival and family, infertility, disability and illness. It’s about the trauma of infertility treatment, its heavy toll on the body and mind, on the relationship, and the weight of the inexpressible grief of childlessness. It’s about the loss of future family life and the chance to share the deepest love, the love that we feel for our children. The process of infertility treatment alienates and separates a couple, they are reduced to biology, she is left with the physical sacrifice, humiliation, burden and risk, how can he ever understand? How can they come back together? This work is about being alive but embodying death, carrying death within you, being unwell, being disabled, but trying to live and be happy. We are wired to survive, even when parts of us want to die. We endure.
